Leonardo DiCaprio, an American actor, producer, and environmentalist, shared two photos on his personal Instagram account in support of forest concessions in the Maya Biosphere Reserve.
“In the first photo,” DiCaprio explains, “community-managed forest concessions protect the beauty of the Maya Biosphere Reserve, provide habitat for wildlife like jaguar and scarlet macaw, and create thousands of sustainable jobs for local communities — all while keeping the healthy forest standing strong.”
Although most people know DiCaprio for his work as an actor, he is known to be one of the most active celebrities fighting against climate change supporting numerous environmental organizations including the Wildnerness Conservation Society and Rainforest Alliance.
“Join us to support the people of the Petén and Maya Biosphere Reserve in our mutual goal of building the health of forests and the communities that depend on them for many generations to come,” DiCaprio said.
